Coveris secured victory at this year’s FlexoTech International Print and Innovations Awards, winning the prestigious UV Flexo, Paper and Board title. The FlexoTech Awards, which took place on Thursday 23rd November at London’s Hilton Metropole hotel, bring together the very best in the flexographic print industry.
An international panel of judges assessed print categories in the FlexoTech Awards based on reproduction, degree of difficulty and quality. Coveris won the UV Flexo, Paper and Board category with a linerless label printed at its Cramlington site in Northumberland. Highlighted by the judges, the detailed label for Aldi’s own brand Nature’s Glen Moroccan Style Lamb Kebabs uses excellent registration and HD fixed colour palette print to produce quality photography and illustration.
Michael Marshall, Coveris’ Operations Director (Paper Division) said: “Winning the UV Flexo, Paper & Board award is another great achievement and well-deserved recognition for Coveris UK. Print awards are extremely important to Coveris and reflect the expertise, skills and continued investment in both print and colour management. Our FlexoTech win follows success at the EFIA Awards earlier in the year, highlighting our consistently high standards in print.”
Coveris had a further four label, cartonboard and flexible film entries shortlisted, including an additional line in the UV Flexo, Paper and Board category. The other categories where Coveris impressed the judges and received a finalist nomination are: Labels Process, Best Use of Flexo Print using Process Colours Only With or Without Varnish and Flexible Packaging 1001mm+.
This news follows Coveris’ recent announcement of new investment plans for its UK-based label sites as part of a pioneering lean operations strategy. The £2 million investment supports the Coveris Performance System (CPS) and includes upgrades to its entire labels print and finishing capabilities.
